Hyperskill vs AI Makerspace: which AI engineering bootcamp fits you?

AI Makerspace runs one of the best-known AI engineering cohorts on Maven, and it's been going since January 2024. Hyperskill's AI Engineer Bootcamp covers similar ground over a longer, lighter schedule and takes your project all the way to the cloud. Here's how they compare.

We run the Hyperskill AI Engineer Bootcamp, so we're not neutral. Everything about AI Makerspace below comes from its Maven page, checked on October 21, 2026.

Where they're the same

Both are live cohorts for people who write code. Both cover RAG, agents, context engineering and evaluation, both use Ragas, and both end with projects you can put on GitHub and talk about in an interview. Neither needs an ML background.

Where they differ

Pace. AI Makerspace packs the program into 6 weeks with two evening sessions a week. Hyperskill spreads it over 10 weeks with one weekly session and soft deadlines, plus a shorter core track if you fall behind. If you have a demanding job, 10 weeks is easier to keep up with. If you want it done fast, 6 weeks wins.

Getting to production. AI Makerspace teaches you to prototype on your own machine and says cloud providers like AWS can wait. Hyperskill's last modules package your app with FastAPI and Docker, move it to managed services (Qdrant Cloud, Langfuse Cloud, Redis Cloud) and deploy it on AWS.

Help on your own code. AI Makerspace teaches in group sessions. Hyperskill adds 1:1 calls with an AI engineer you can book when you're stuck, autotests on projects and instructor reviews of GitHub projects.

How agents are taught. AI Makerspace works with leading frameworks and gives you clean boilerplate to build on. Hyperskill starts with an agent you write from scratch in plain Python, then moves to LlamaIndex and LangChain.

Total cost. AI Makerspace is $3,000 plus your own compute. Hyperskill is $2,499 ($2,299 with code AUTUMN) with OpenAI credits included.

What you get besides the course. AI Makerspace includes its Wiley textbook and a strong habit of sharing your work publicly. Hyperskill includes a career module with CV review and a mock interview, and a year of Hyperskill Premium.

Choose AI Makerspace if

  • you want to finish in 6 weeks and can give it two evenings a week
  • you like learning from a textbook alongside the sessions
  • you want a community that pushes you to build and share in public
  • you're happy to prototype locally and deploy later

Choose Hyperskill if

  • you need a 10-week pace that fits a full-time job
  • you want to deploy your app to AWS, not only run it locally
  • you want 1:1 time with an AI engineer on your own code
  • you want to understand agents from scratch before using frameworks
  • you want no extra compute bills and help with your CV and interviews
